Personality and Weight Loss

No one seems to have all the answers yet on the most elegant way to lose weight. Apparently they are multiple pathways to gaining weight and therefore multiple pathways to losing weight.

I’m currently still in the process of piecing together the relationship between personality and weight gain/loss. I don’t have all the answers either, yet. I am particularly perplexed by fat in females over 40 and how weight loss is no longer “fair”after that age. For instance, the first year that my partner and I lived together, he lost 70 pounds and I gained 20! He ate the same food I ate, but “cheated” a lot more; he got involved in the physical activities I enjoy, but participated less than I did; and since he was a big “snacker” I ended up picking up some of his bad eating habits and hence my weight gain! I am certain that there is a female specific way to lose weight and that it is going to surprise us when it is all figured out.

So far, I do believe that weight gain is a bigger challenge for the low serotonin (the well-being neurotransmitter) types (4’s,6’s and 8’s) and of course, any of us who are under stress, chronically fatigued, or having health/pain issues. Any time serotonin drops, carbohydrate cravings skyrocket.

In addition, when it comes to weight loss, there are going to be nine very different types of perceptions about what that weight loss means and nine distinct motivational patterns for how to go about losing weight.

Not only is the growing obesity issue a health concern for our country, but being heavier than our ideal weight can be physically and emotionally extremely uncomfortable.

So… I just want you to know that my second research interest has been a fascination with weight and one that I have concurrently studied and explored for the past 30 years. I believe I might be onto something (that is lowest energy for best results) but I won’t know for sure until I melt off another 20 pounds! 🙂

So stay tuned!

  1. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I
could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was
hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your
    new updates.

We use a free Plugin called “jetpack”. It has many modules. The one we use to automatically send our blog posts t0 Facebook and Twitter is “Publicize”. We’ve used it with great success on 2 blogs, but we have a third blog in which the theme is not compatible with jetpack.
